We all know how important it is to have the supreme confidence in the tackle we are using. Dissatisfied with the quality of the jigs available, I started tying my own. Yet, standard light wire hooks were not sufficient when using braided line or when you really put “the screws to” a big fish. I couldn’t find what I wanted, so I started making my own jigs start to finish. Finally, I started to have the success I wanted!
A few years ago a woman had asked if she could buy some of my jigs (my first customer). She had not caught a Cutthroat Trout over 10 lbs, and was curious about the tackle I was using. She started using my jigs and has caught several Cutthroat Trout over 10 lbs, including a personal best of 16 lbs 12 0z! The very best part of this was to hear the pure joy and excitement in her voice!
Although several people asked me about selling my jigs, I was hesitant because I did not want to have them “farmed out” resulting in cheap quality. But, I thought about Amy and her success. There is just something so cool about being able to help someone attain a goal or accomplish something they will remember the rest of their life. That is what fishing is all about.
That is why I’m making these available - small batches of custom, 100% handmade jigs. Maybe it’s the one thing that you were looking for that gives you that final piece of the puzzle. There are other jigs that claim to be the strongest jig on the market, what I can tell you is that these jigs are responsible for 6 IGFA World Records and 4 Cutthroat Trout over 20 lbs.
For those who like to tie their own, which I completely understand, I am offering “painted only” jig heads in unique colors. That way you can put your own style to the jigs.
If you prefer to use the finished product, I am offering several color patterns. These are the patterns I have had the great success with, and I hope they bring you success as well.
There are 4 sizes available on the custom jig molds -
- 1/8 oz head on 1/0 hook – (Measured length 1 and 3/8 inches - not wrapped) This size - Painted jig heads only
- 1/4 oz head on 2/0 hook – (Measured length 1 and 9/16 inches - not wrapped)
- 1/4 oz head on 3/0 hook – (Measured length 1 and 11/16 inches - not wrapped)
- 3/8 oz head on 3/0 hook – (Measured length 1 and ¾ inches – not wrapped)
The 1/8 oz head is used most often in shallow water, very light wind, sort of a more stealthy approach. A popular size for anglers going after steelhead, crappie, and many more, that require a lighter presentation.
The 1/4 oz head versions are the most popular size. This size is the “go to” size by many people.
Some people prefer the 2/0 hook, while others like to use the bigger 3/0 hook.
The 3/8 oz head is best utilized in strong winds, big currents, or deep water. This size is easier to control in these conditions. However, some people prefer to use this size all the time.
Regardless of your preference, I know you will find these to be the best jigs you have ever used. Meticulous care is taken at every step of the jig making process. Having the knowledge that you are using a product that has been proven to yield incredible results is something every angler wants.
