EAST WALKER RIVER

FISHING REPORT
Updated - 7/12/17

Current River Conditions: Flows are at about 1400 CFS but need to go to below 200 CFS for safe wading.  If you are in the area and the flows are down to 600 CFS it might be worth a try, but be careful. The Rosaschi section in Nevada has a little warmer water and more active fish though it's running high too.  Once the flows recede, fishing will greatly improve.

Fishing is really difficult and dangerous for waders.   Stripping an articulated leach or woolybugger along the edges can produce some fish.  Indicator fishing  with nymphs such as Princes, San Juan Worms, Stonefly nymphs and Copper Johns catch fish too.

Recomended Patterns

Pheasant Tail #12, #14 & #16, San Juan Worm/passionate pink, Golden Stone Nymph #8,, #10, & #12, Copper John/red or copper #14, #16, Prince Nymph (various sizes), Wooly Bugger/rusty, black, Glow Bug/red.  Zebra Midge/black, brown, red

WEST WALKER RIVER

FISHING REPORT
Updated - 7/12/17

Current River Conditions: Flows have dropped this week but still are at an unwadeable 3,000 CFS and still muddy Check back in a couple of weeks and we may have a good report for you.

Both the CDFW and the county are going to make major plants of fish once the flows recede.  You might want to check out the river up at Picel Meadows as the gradient is more level.

Look for a major Golden Stone hatch once things settle down.  Of course the venerable Wooly Bugger is always a go to fly on the W Walker.

Recomended Patterns

Pheasant Tail #12, #14 & #16, San Juan Worm/passionate pink, Golden Stone Nymph #8,, #10, & #12, Copper John/red or copper #14, #16, Prince Nymph (various sizes), Wooly Bugger/rusty or black, Glow Bug/red.
