Utah - Northern Region Fish Report

Bear Lake

Good

Angling by boat at Bear Lake continues to be fair to good, with most reporting anglers pulling in lake trout or cutthroat trout. While we did not receive any reports from shore fishers this week, angling from the shore at Bear Lake has recently been very slow. Anglers recommended fishing in 60-80 feet of water in the early morning and 90-120 feet of water afterward. Jigging has been working well, especially in the morning hours. Try using a white tube jig tipped with sucker meat. (08-11-17)

Blacksmith Fork River

Good

Fishing up the Blacksmith Fork River has been fair to good recently, according to anglers. Spinners and caddis patterns have worked well for some anglers in prior weeks. (08-11-17)

Bountiful Lake

Good

Although we have not received any angling reports from Bountiful this week, anglers have recently done well fishing for catfish using worms or glitter marshmallows. (08-11-17)

Causey Reservoir

Fair

According to anglers this week, fishing has been slow to fair at Causey. Anglers who did report success, recommended using spoons or worms. Try fishing in the narrows. (08-11-17)

East Canyon Reservoir & State Park

Good

Fishing for trout and wiper has been good this week, according to anglers. One shore fisher reported good afternoon fishing for rainbow trout by throwing PowerBait into deeper water. Another group of anglers did well from shore using lemon twist PowerBait and marshmallows. However, several other anglers suggested fishing in early in the morning in order to beat the crowds. If you're fishing by boat, anglers recommended using Kastmasters or pop gear with a worm. Another angler recommended fishing the west side of the reservoir. (08-11-17)

Echo Reservoir

Good

If you just want tugs at your line, Echo is a great place to go right now. You might not be pulling in anything decent-sized, but anglers reported catching huge quantities of smaller perch and smallmouth bass. Try the rocks on the east side of the reservoir if you're fishing from the shore. (08-11-17)

Farmington Pond

Slow

Anglers reported slow to fair fishing at the community ponds this week. If you're targeting catfish, anglers recommended using worms. (08-11-17)

Holmes Creek Reservoir

Fair

We have not received any angling reports from Holmes Creek Reservoir this week, but anglers have recently reporteded fair to good fishing for bass using plastics. Anglers recommended fishing as early in the morning as possible in order to beat the crowds, especially on the weekend. (08-11-17)

Hyrum Reservoir & State Park

Fair

Recently, anglers have reported slow to fair fishing for largemouth bass using plastics. Fishing for trout continues to be slow. (08-11-17)

Jensen Nature Park Pond

Slow

Anglers reported slow to fair fishing at the community ponds this week. If you're targeting catfish, anglers recommended using worms. (08-11-17)

Kaysville Ponds

Good

One angler reported catching a largemouth bass this week, and anglers have recently pulled in catfish and bluegill. (08-11-17)

Logan River

Good

Anglers reported fair to good fishing throughout the Logan this week. One family who was fishing at Second Dam caught several rainbow trout, but other anglers reported that First Dam fishing has been slow this week. (08-11-17)

Lost Creek Reservoir

Fair

One angler reported slow to fair fishing at the reservoir, having only caught one rainbow trout that was within the slot. (08-11-17)

Mantua Reservoir

Good

One angler reported that boat fishing was good in Mantua. Anglers also did well from the shore, catching a few rainbow trout and perch using PowerBait and worms respectively. The perch were especially willing to strike, according to one group of anglers. (08-11-17)

Ogden River

Good

One angler reported good fishing for brown trout. Try bouncing a worm off the bottom. The river was stocked with 1,000 rainbow trout on August 7. (08-11-17)

Pineview Reservoir

Fair

We received a mixture of angling reports this week. Some anglers reported decent fishing for tiger muskie and bass, while others had no luck at all. One angler who fished Pineview early in the morning reported catching a large tiger muskie and a few bass. Another angler caught a large bass on the east side of the reservoir. Overall, anglers who fished from a boat this week reported more success than shore fishers. (08-11-17)

Rockport Reservoir

Good

Anglers are still reporting good to hot fishing at Rockport both by boat and from shore. One angler who caught a large number of rainbow trout and smallmouth bass from a boat also observed several shore fishers having success on the east side of the reservoir. Try using Berkeley Power Eggs, PowerBait, Kastmasters or pop gear with a worm. (08-11-17)

Uinta Mountains

Good

Anglers are still getting into some nice brook trout, tiger trout and rainbow trout throughout the Uintas. This week, reporting anglers had success with Panther Martins, worms and PowerBait. Fly patterns that have recently worked well include woolly buggers and glow bugs. To obtain some sweet solitude in this gorgeous natural setting, try hiking to a more remote fishing destination or fishing in the middle of the week. (08-11-17)

Weber River

Good

One angler reported catching several decent-sized brown trout this week. The Weber was stocked with 1,000 rainbow trout on August 7. (08-11-17)

Willard Bay Reservoir

Good

According to anglers, the fishing for catfish wasn't as hot as it was last week, although several people still reported catching a few. Anglers also reported fair to good fishing for walleye. Wiper reports have been very hit-or-miss. Reporting anglers who did catch wipers said that they were using mussels. Anglers have not reported any boils. (08-11-17)
