I caught this 7-pound 12-ounce trout at Lake Camanche this past Wednesday, on a silver Kastmaster which I threw after seeing a boil in front of my boat, while bass fishing.

I also caught and released this largemouth bass which weighed 4 pounds 6 ounces, at Lake Camanche this past Wednesday, on a drop shot rig using a 6 in robo worm in Margarita Mutilator color, in the river arm.

If Christmas week sent us heaven on earth, it was at the Whistler Buoy, off Pt Loma — yellowtail limits all week. We came up on the open bite on Monday, quickly limiting in an hour with my brother and I on board. Following the week’s choppy weather Friday, Saturday and Sunday paid off in spades, with continued limits. My better half, Emily, even got this nice 12-pound yellowtail off the Rapala 20" dine Xrap.

Had a great day with my 6-year-old son Hagen doing some trout fishing at Santa Ana River Lakes. It was his first trout trip as we are more in the saltwater scene. He had a blast and managed to land a 4.25-pound rainbow as well as 3 other nice size fish. They were caught in the bubble hole area of the lake. Salmon egg flavored PowerBait and inflated nightcrawlers fished on 4-pound test worked well. Short leaders between 12 to 16 inches seemed to be the ticket. He can't wait till the next trip, great day!

My son and I, Sebastian (aka Cbass), fished Chubasco 3 twice for limits of white seabass. Capt. Darryl Sato had 4 trips in a row with limits. Was this really end of December? Summertime conditions.

While fishing off Bluff Cove on the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 I caught a trigger fish. I was using squid in about 45 feet of water at the outside edge of the kelp beds.

JIM AND WESTON WICKLUND (grandpa/grandson).

My dad (Jim Wicklund) took me (Brian Wicklund), my wife (Melissa Wicklund), and my 8-year old son (Weston Wicklund) out to the 60-mile bank last Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. We saw a weather window and thought it would be a good day to take out my wife and son to look for bluefin tuna and yellowtail. Weather was beautiful, water was flat enough to water ski. This was Weston's FIRST offshore fishing trip, and what a day it turned out to be for him! Bite for BFT was slow at 60 so we went to get the little guy some action on kelp paddies. Found wide open bite on couple paddies, YT were 8 to 12 pounds, couple up to 15 pounds. Live bait and throwing iron brought in all the action we could ask for. We had a smooth ride back in, and enjoyed the spoils of our hard work with a fish taco dinner. Keep up the great work!

Driving from Thousand Oaks to Seattle, WA, to pick up a puppy, I stopped to fish for a day on the Sandy River in Oregon with Brando Glass of Hook-up Guide Service. I caught my first ever steelhead on Jan. 5.
