Reader Report by Richard Wagner, Carlsbad

Connor Wagner, from Carlsbad, made a run up to Pyramid Lake in Nevada for the first time with his buddy Dan. After a few hundred casts, he tied into this 32-34" Lahontan Cutthroat on a custom fly tied that morning by Dan that went between 12-13 pounds. Took almost 200 yards of line down to the backing and after over 30 minutes they got him in the net. They caught a few others about half that big in 2 days of fly fishing.

I caught my personal best bluefin tuna (154 pounds), on the Tribute, on a 1½ day trip out of Seaforth Landing. The fish bit a sardine on a 4/0 Owner Circle hook. I was using a Shimano Talica 20 loaded with 100-pound spectra, a 100-foot monofilament top shot, and a 6-foot 100-pound Seaguar pink label fluorocarbon. I was using a 4-ounce torpedo “sinker rig” and a Shimano Terez rail rod. The fish took over an hour to land. The trip was awesome. 32 anglers caught 39 bluefin, most of which were over 110 lbs and most were caught on sinker rigs. Biggest fish on the boat was 185. A mako bit the tail off two of the large tuna. At one point, a school of big bluefin came boiling past the boat. They were coming out of the water, chasing bait, some as big as dolphin, and several people hooked up on fly lined baits. The crew of the Tribute is very good. Shawn was the captain, night driver was Shane, the deckhands were Taylor and Cody, and the cook was Casey. I’ve been fishing tuna since the 1970’s and I’ve never seen so many big bluefin taken on a sport boat. This is a special season. I will remember this trip forever.

My daughter, 16-year-old Ashley Ravencroft, with her first Nevada Buck. She was over the top excited to be fortunate enough to get this deer. Ashley was hunting in Zone 034. She used a Blackrock Range Rifle 243 Savage, to take down the deer at 115 yards. We love reading WON. Keep up the good work.

WON, thank you for publishing (February 17, 2015) my I.G.F.A. approved barred surfperch world record caught on March 15, 2014. On June 5, 2016, I caught a barred surfperch (19½ inches long, 4 pounds, 12 ounces.) that happen to be bigger than my 2014 record catch. After providing all the required details, the I.G.F.A. has once again approved my catch (my second one for the books) as a world record.

Reader Report by Joseph Otto, Rancho Cucamonga

While fishing Spicer Reservoir on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. I had all my expensive and fancy gear out floating some PowerBait and a nightcrawler. My three-year-old daughter Zoie, while using her favorite tiny "Frozen" themed fishing pole and fly lining a nightcrawler, nailed these three nice trout by herself! My rods, which were next to hers, never got a look! I couldn't be more proud!
