LOWER AMERICAN RIVER

kiene's american river fly fishing report
FISHING REPORT
Updated - 7/12/17

Current River Conditions: Flows are are holding steady at around 3000 CFS and many of  the traditional runs are becoming wadeable.

Lots of Shad are still in the system, and some of the shore anglers throwing two handed rigs are doing real well.  Those in the boats are doing great though mid day is real slow.  Best action is upstream from Gristmill.

Striper action very good and they are now throughout the river. We're hearing good reports from downstream of the island at Sailor Bar.

Recomended Flies

Shad: Bloody Maria, American River Pinky

Bass: Clouser Minnows/all color combinations but chartreuse and white seem to never fail
