CANEY LAKE: The crappie are beginning to move deep with some being caught at night around lights. Best baits have been the Bobby Garland and Monkey Milk jigs; anything that is shad colored. Bass are suspended and a good many have been caught trolling Alabama rigs. Bream have about shut it down for the year. LAKE D’ARBONNE: The crappie have moved to the channels with best fishing around channel edges and in the mouth of the creeks. A variety of jigs are picking up some fish, including Electric Chicken, Lites Out, Blue Chrome, Diamond Mist and Purple Passion. Bass are best at the mouths of the creeks fishing crank baits and soft plastics. Catfish continue to bite with a few bream caught fishing cold worms off the banks. LAKE CLAIBORNE: The water is down 8-10 feet. The crappie are beginning their winter-time migration and are moving away from the submerged tops headed for deep water. Fishing is slow during this transition time. The bass bite is off with few fish caught. Stripers, catfish and bream have been no-shows this week.
