Gateway to the east walker river
EAST WALKER RIVER July 09, 2017
The East is still running at about 1270 right now, we haven’t talked to anyone who’s fished the river since the flows have been so high. We’ll keep you posted when the flows come down, it may be several weeks still but when that happens the fishing should be pretty good down there.
SCEIRINE RANCH July 09, 2017
We haven’t had anyone on the ranch this week but when the flows start to come down we expect the fishing to be excellent down there!
HUNEWILL POND July 09, 2017
The pond has still been a little tough this past week, the weeds are growing pretty fast so it’s becoming difficult to work around them. There are plans in the works to get the weeds cut down so we’ll keep you informed as to when that happens and when the fishing picks up.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR July 09, 2017
Bridgeport is still one of the hot spots right now, the fishing from boats has been very good this past week. The shore fishing has turned off lately but if you have a boat, kayak or tube you should be able to do well. Bait anglers are fishing off of Rainbow Point and up in Buckeye Bay and having success with crawlers, mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. Trollers are still having great days with needlefish, Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Speedy Shiners. We haven’t talked to very many anglers fly fishing the reservoir but you should be able to do well stripping streamers and possibly stillwater nymphing over in the Buckeye Bay Area right now.
KIRMAN LAKE July 09, 2017
No reports from Kirman this week, if you have any information from up there and want to pass it on it would be appreciated!
TWIN LAKES July 09, 2017
The Twins have kicked out some nice fish up to 5+ pounds this week as well as lots of pan sized fish. Bait anglers are using power bait, mice tails and crawlers either from the shore or from boats. The trolling has been a little hit and miss but some of the successful anglers have been using lead core line and trolling Rapalas, speedy shiners and needlefish. Fly anglers are stripping streamers like matukas, seal buggers, Twin Lakes Specials and wooly bugers. Dropping a soft hackle, zug bug or aggravator prince is also a good call.
WEST WALKER RIVER July 09, 2017
The West is running extremely high and muddy with all the run-off. We do seem to get a report here and there by some anglers who are having some success with bait or spinners, they’re focusing on the softer water around the bends or behind structure. Be very careful up there as the current is very fast, wading is probably not recommended at this time.
VIRGINIA LAKES July 09, 2017
The Virginias and Trumbull are producing some good action lately as well, lots of nice fish are being caught on all 3 lakes. Tubing or kayaking seems to be better than shore fishing but there are still some good reports from the shore coming in. Bait anglers are using crawlers and mice tails, lure anglers are doing well with Thomas bouyants, kastmasters and panther martins. Fly anglers are fishing midges under an indicator or stripping streamers and having some success.
