EAST WALKER RIVER October 09, 2017
The East is running at about 195 right now. It seems like the nymphing action has gotten a bit slower but the streamer action has been much better this past week. We’re getting lots of good streamer reports on all sections of the river including the Nevada side. There are lots of nice fish being caught, both browns and rainbows. It seems that the rainbows are more prominent on the mile section while there are more browns down below. Patterns to try include: simi seal leech, zuddler, sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, seal bugger, double bunny, jj special, dark lord, micro mayfly, silver streak, copper John and zebra midge.
SCEIRINE RANCH October 09, 2017
The ranch has been fishing very well lately, the streamer action seems to be the best with nymphing a close second. Most of the patterns listed above have also been working on the ranch. The Sceirine is getting booked up a bit in advance lately so if you want reservations plan ahead as best you can.
HUNEWILL POND October 09, 2017
The pond received a truckload of fish last week and they all seem to be very healthy and happy. There are still some weeds to contend with but the weather is getting colder and the weeds will be going away for the season. Leech patterns as well as dry/dropper rigs will do the trick out there, heavier leaders and tippets are in order to combat some of the weeds and help get some of the larger fish to the net.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR October 09, 2017
Bridgeport is fishing very well still though things are changing quite a bit out there with the colder weather. We’ve started getting some good reports from shore anglers down near the dam, some anglers are getting into limits of 2 to 4 pounders down there. With the colder water temps the fish are spreading out and leaving the inlet channels, though there are still fish to be caught in the channels. The trolling has picked up and the weeds and algae are starting to die off, slowly but surely. Trollers are using night crawlers, speedy shiners, thomas bouyants and rapalas, bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, inflated crawlers, mice tails and powerbait. Fly anglers are using streamers like seal buggers, mini leeches, matukas, simi seal leeches with soft hackle and pheasant tail droppers.
KIRMAN LAKE October 09, 2017
No reports from Kirman this week, if you have any information from up there and want to pass it on it would be appreciated!
TWIN LAKES October 09, 2017
The Twins are kicking out some very nice fish lately with some up to around 5+ pounds making a showing. Trolling has been good with rapalas, thomas bouyants and speedy shiners. Bait anglers are using crawlers, powerbait and mice tails. Fly anglers are still going with matukas, seal buggers, wooly buggers, leeches, soft hackles, zug bugs and prince nymphs.
WEST WALKER RIVER October 09, 2017
The West is fishing very well lately too, salmon eggs and crawlers for the bait anglers, panther martins, rooster tails and thomas bouyants for the lure anglers. Fly anglers are still getting away with hopper/dropper rigs in the afternoon when the weather warms up and in the mornings small buggers and attractor nymphs like prince, pheasant tails and hare’s ears.
VIRGINIA LAKES October 09, 2017
The Virginias are still producing some nice fish in the 2 to 4 pound range on bait, lures and flies. Bait anglers are using powerbait, pinched crawlers and mice tails. Lure anglers are using mini jigs, thomas bouyants and panther martins. Fly anglers are using simi seal leeches, mini leeches, wooly buggers and matukas with zug bug and soft hackle droppers.
