Fishing Reports
EAST WALKER RIVER October 02, 2017
The East is running at about 195 right now. We’ve had some not so good reports from down there but the majority of the reports we’ve been getting have been pretty good. Lots of nice fish being caught on both sides of the state line. Some of the fish being landed have been in the mid 20’s lately. Most of the action has been nymphing with a little on streamers still. No dry action to speak of that we have heard. Nymphs that have been producing include dark lords, rainbow warriors, silver streaks, darth baetis, micro mayfly and red headed stepchild. Streamers to try include sculpzilla, dead drift crayfish, zuddler and moal leech.
SCEIRINE RANCH October 02, 2017
The ranch has been fishing excellent with some fish in the 23 to 25 inch range being reported, a few of the best flies down there are dark lords, natural and pink san juan worms, dead drift crayfish and moal leeches.
HUNEWILL POND October 02, 2017
We had a few anglers that gave the pond a try earlier this week and a couple fo them were pretty successful while a couple were not. They reported that the weeds were definitely an issue and caused them to lose some fish but they weren’t so bad as to be unfishable. As the weather gets colder they should start to go away more and more each week.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR October 02, 2017
Bridgeport is still fishing very well with fish up to around 5 to 6 pounds being caught lately. It seems that as the weather is cooling the fish are starting to spread out some. The buckeye and robinson channels are still the hot spots but there are some fish starting to be caught in the east walker channel, over near Rainbow Point and out in the middle between Rainbow and the marina. The marina is fully open still with Chase the new owner and he’s renting boats daily. Bait anglers are still using pinched crawlers, night crawlers, power bait and mice tails. The trolling is also starting to pick up again with rapalas, Thomas bouyants and speedy shiners.
KIRMAN LAKE October 02, 2017
No reports from Kirman this week, if you have any information from up there and want to pass it on it would be appreciated!
TWIN LAKES October 02, 2017
The Twins are fishing well and there’s been some nice 4 to 6 pound fish being caught up there too. We haven’t seen any big browns this week but they should be getting ready to make a showing pretty soon! Trolling has been good with rapalas, thomas bouyants and night crawlers. Bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, mice tails and inflated crawlers. Fly anglers are going with wooly buggers, Simi seal leeches, soft hackles and pheasant tails.
WEST WALKER RIVER October 02, 2017
The West is fishing very well now with flies, bait and lures. The water flows are down to very fishable levels and there’s lots of fish up there to be caught. Panther Martins and rooster tails have been good for the lure anglers, bait folks are using salmon eggs and night crawlers. Fly anglers are still picking up a few on dry/dropper rigs as well as nymphing, patterns include: humpies, stimulators, madam x, prince nymph, pheasant tail, soft hackle and copper John.
VIRGINIA LAKES October 02, 2017
The Virginias are fishing excellent right now with a good number of 3 to 5 pound fish being caught up there. Bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, inflated crawlers and mice tails. Lure anglers are using kastmasters, thomas bouyants and panther martins. Fly anglers are going with seal buggers, leeches, wooly buggers, soft hackles, copper johns and pheasant tails.
