Fishing Reports

EAST WALKER RIVER          September 10, 2017

The East is running about 302 cfs today and has been there for several days. It’s fishing pretty well in the upper mile section and Nevada but a little tougher in the lower section between the bridge and Murphy’s Pond. Nymphing has been the best technique though we have been getting some good reports on some streamer fishing. There are lots of crawdads in the water so crawfish patterns have been working well on some stretches. We haven’t heard any news on dries but maybe if the flows come down some more that might be another option. There has been some nice fish in the mid 20’s being caught as well as lots of fish in the 14 to 20 inch range. Patterns to try include: darth baetis, micro mayfly, zebra midge, san juan worm, mercury midge, top secret midge, z-wing caddis, fox’s poopah, lafontaines sparkle pupa, buckskin caddis, zuddler, dead drift crayfish, moal leech, sculpzilla.

SCEIRINE RANCH              September 10, 2017

The ranch has been fishing well this past week, lots of nice fish in the 14 to 24 inch range being caught down there. Most of the same patterns that are being fished on the California side are working on the ranch. One difference is that we have had a couple good reports on dry/dropper rigs down there, not sure why but that seems to be working on the ranch. If you want to book some time down there just give us a call!

HUNEWILL POND              September 10, 2017

The pond has gotten pretty weedy as of late so we’re going to try to get it cleaned up, when we do we’ll get some reports to you asap!

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR              September 10, 2017

Bridgeport is still fishing excellent, mostly up in the Buckeye Bay Area. There has been a little bit of trolling going on but mainly on the South end of the lake as opposed to near the dam. There’s a lot of weeds so make sure you pay attention to your lures and keep them clean. Bait fishing has been the best with pinched crawlers, night crawlers, mice tails and power bait. We’ve also talked to a few anglers who have bagged some fish throwing lures while anchored in the bay, thomas bouyants, kastmasters and panther martins have been working for this. We haven’t talked to any fly anglers who’ve been over to the other side but it sounds like either stillwater nymphing or stripping streamers should be good.

KIRMAN LAKE                           September 10, 2017

No reports from Kirman this week, if you have any information from up there and want to pass it on it would be appreciated!

TWIN LAKES                      September 10, 2017

The Twins have been fishing very well this past week with lots of rainbows up to 5 or so pounds being caught as well as a very nice 8 1/2 pound brown making a showing on the upper lake! Trolling has been good with rapalas, needlefish, thomas bouyants and speedy shiners. Bait anglers have been doing well with pinched crawlers, mice tails and power bait. Fly anglers are still going with streamers like wooly buggers, seal buggers, leech patterns, soft hackles and zug bugs.

WEST WALKER RIVER                          September 10, 2017

The West has picked up very nicely with the lower water flows, lots of nice fish being caught up there. Fly anglers are still doing some nymphing as well as some dry/dropper fishing, patterns to try include: prince nymphs, hare’s ear, soft hackle, para hopper, dave’s hopper, madam x and chubby Chernobyl. Bait anglers can go with salmon eggs, night crawlers and power eggs. For lures try rooster tails, panther martins and thomas bouyants.

VIRGINIA LAKES                     September 10, 2017

The Virginias are fishing excellent lately, lots of nice fishing being landed up there. Fly anglers are using soft hackles, buggers, leeches and some beetles on top. Bait anglers are using mice tails, pinched crawlers, night crawlers and power bait. Lure anglers are going with thomas bouyants, kastmasters and panther martins.
