EAST WALKER RIVER       March 11, 2018

The weather has cleared up (at least for the time being) and the flows are up to 85 cfs right now on the river!! Great flows and the fish seem to be cooperating pretty good as well! Most of the action has been with small nymph and midge patterns though there has been some decent streamer action as well. There are lots of nice fat rainbows in the river right now as well as some good browns up to around 24 or 25 inches being caught. Most anglers are reporting anywhere from 3 to 7 or 8 fish per day. With the time change the best time to be down there is probably from about 9 to 4 or 5. Both the Miracle Mile section and the lower section below the bridge are doing well on the California side and the Rosachi section is also doing well on the Nevada side, seems like mostly rainbows down there.

Recommended Flies:

WD040 in olive, chocolate and gray, zebra midge, flash bang midge, miracle midge, mercury midge, rainbow warrior, silver streak, micro mayfly, psycho prince, top secret midge, pheasant tail, lite brite prince, flashback emerger, micro stone, zuddler, sculpzilla, wooly bugger, dead drift crayfish.

FYI - The Nevada Department of Wildlife is re-vamping their fishing/hunting license program and will be sending Ken's a computer license terminal in February for our customers to purchase Nevada licenses. During the change over I have been asked to send in all my paper license books on January 1 so they can be reconciled with the department. This means that I will not be able to sell any Nevada licenses for about 4 to 8 weeks after the first of the year. If you're planning a trip to fish Nevada waters during this time be sure to get your license ahead of time, either online or from a Nevada license dealer! I'll keep you posted when my terminal arrives and we're online!

I’m expecting to see the Nevada license terminal here within the next 3 or so weeks and will get it set up and running asap when it shows. I’ll let ya’ll know when we’re back online with Nevada licenses!

SCEIRINE RANCH               March 11, 2018

We had one client on the Sceirine this week and he reported having a very good day! Most of his fish were caught on stonefly nymphs, all were rainbows in the 13 to 18 inch range. The browns were a bit shy on this day but plenty of action with the bows!

HUNEWILL POND                March 11, 2018

The pond re-froze on us with the latest cold snap, I’ll try to get out there to have a look if the weather stays (fairly) warm for a few more days and will keep you posted.

WEST WALKER RIVER                             March 11, 2018

I haven’t talked to anyone who’s been on the West lately though I have talked to some travellers who have said they’re seeing anglers giving it a go up there, I’d expect with the slightly warmer weather the last few days the fish should be getting a bit more active, I’d suggest trying some attractor nymphs like prince, pheasant tail, birds nest and maybe even a micro or poxyback stone.
