Heading right into winter with high flows and above average temps.

Mild has been the word. Snowed a little yesterday, but high pressure will settle back in this week and we should see temps warm right back up.

Yes, flows are very high, and yes, the fishing is pretty good. Just gotta find some soft spots. Remember, trouts like water about a slow walking pace this time of year.

They are still releasing a ton of water out of Lake Tahoe. Flows are high on the Truckee River, but clarity and fishing is pretty good. Flows are around 1,500 cfs here in the Hirsch, down from 2,000 cfs last week. Big pumping flows. What you have to do is find some soft water. Ain’t always easy, but it’s there. Nymph up with worms, eggs, stones, small mayflies, and midges. Streamer fish with something that looks sculpin.

I expect the next few weeks we should have some great winter fishing going on.
