WEST CARSON RIVER

FISHING REPORT
Updated - 7/12/17

Current River Conditions: Flows have dropped to 275 CFS which has made the river very wadeable, though still  too high to cross on foot.  Water clarity has improved too.

An additional 900 lbs of fish were planted again (2nd time in the last two weeks!) wherever the hatchery truck can access the river.  We fished it on Saturday (7/1) and found pods of wild fish that had escaped from the alien planters in the eddies upstream from the 89/88 bridge. The section downstream from Sorenson's is still pretty blown out. With the lower flows fish should

be moving into the traditional holding lies in the seems and undercuts.

Some PMDs, but mainly BWOs and midges are coming off daily, but few fish are taking them on te surface. Small PTs, San Juan Worms patterns and small soft hackles.

Recomended Patterns

Pheasant Tail #12, #14 & #16, San Juan Worm/passionate pink, Golden Stone Nymph #8,, #10, & #12, Copper John/red or copper #14, #16, Prince Nymph (various sizes), Wooly Bugger/rusty, black, Glow Bug/red.

EAST CARSON RIVER

FISHING REPORT
Updated - 7/12/17

Current River Conditions: At 1500 CFS flows are still too high and muddy which makes the river completely un-wadeable. Todd at the Alpine County Fish & Game Commission says that he thinks it will be about a few more weeks until it gets into shape.  Fish planting has been halted until the flows are more reasonable.

Recommended Patterns

Pheasant Tail #12, #14 & #16, San Juan Worm/passionate pink, Golden Stone Nymph #8,, #10, & #12, Copper John/red or copper #14, #16, Prince Nymph (various sizes), Wooly Bugger/rusty, black, Glow Bug/red.
